It’s time to rip off the plaster. The site has just gone live and to get a feel for all this I’m really excited to get to my first bit of content out and start filling these pages with my brain and it’s goings-on.
My plan for this morning and much of the day was to:
A) Finish setting up Beau Blogs to a point that it was at least functional,
and
B) Put out my first blog post.
You’ve got to have the right environment set up in order to do do great work, or at least to prevent yourself from freaking out, so I made sure I had my laptop ready, a coffee, some nice lighting, and Spotify playing on my TV.
Unfortunately something just wasn’t right and I found myself feeling very unproductive and often simply staring into the pixels of my laptop screen. I was almost completely frozen for a while and was starting to get worried. Minutes of blank-mindedness soon became a couple of hours and there was still a glaring function hiccup in my site, and I had begun even thinking of a first post.
Time was dragging and I was getting no where nearer so I prepared to shut down and face my defeat for the day. Music was still playing from my TV and there was this one song that came on. One that I already loved and had played hundreds of times before, but I noticed the option to switch it the video. The thumbnail had a fantastic art-style and I hadn’t actually seen it before, so I went with it. “Don’t Give Up Your Ghost” by Movements and directed by Ben Kadie saved me and my goals for today. It had a lovely artistic flair, was quite moving but charming too, and very pretty, Lucky for me it managed to motivate me to finish fixing my site and start drafting my post.
Noticing an artists creative vision really helped me build on my own today and coming to that realisation gave me such an amazing feeling. Along with the push I needed to get the creativity flowing, and even something to write about.
There’s a little peak behind the curtain on how this came about. Nothing too crazy just yet but this is all very cool and so much fun. I’m giddy thinking about future posts already!
Thanks a whole bunch to anyone reading, whenever in time you may be, for witnessing me draw first blood on Beau Blogs.
Oh and just like that I’ve found my post title there. Wonderful, how things work out sometimes.
